Energy Research Center Astana
EXPO 2017 Astana is a unique project not only in terms of its architectural design, but also in terms of technical equipment. The master plan was developed by the Chicago-based architectural bureau Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill. The main theme of the exhibition is "Energy of the Future". The symbol of the exhibition is the Nur Әlem pavilion. It is the largest spherical building in the world with a diameter of 80 metres and a height of 100 metres. By installing wind turbines and photovoltaic panels, the building itself is able to generate energy. Glass and aluminium are the main architectural materials. The voluminous aluminium panels in Cladding Solutions Dark Silver are the most environmentally friendly of all the building materials used in the project, as they are a recyclable material.
